Having limited financial resources can challenge you to think outside the box and use other resources to help deliver the programs that you have worked so hard to design.  As an administrator, I have found great value in collaborating with departments across campus to combine financial resources as well as to develop well-rounded programs and reach a broader audience.

One of my major responsibilities as the Coordinator of the Cesar E. Chavez Center for Higher Education is to manage multiple operational and programming budgets. Since these budgets are funded by different sources (i.e., California State, Cal Poly Foundation, and Associated Students, Inc.), I have had to become familiar with an array of policies for each of these accounts. While the five cultural centers share a wonderful Administrative Coordinator who helps us manage our budgets, it is imperative that we understand and follow these policies because any mistake can delay or jeopardize our operational and programming monies.

I also work with student organizations and committees to develop budgets with the purpose of helping student leaders become fiscally responsible in their personal and professional lives. Below are examples of budget spreadsheets I have developed.
