Welcome to my M.Ed. Capstone Portfolio! This website is a compilation and integration of my experiences as a student in the M.Ed. College Student Affairs program at Azusa Pacific University. This capstone portfolio will demonstrate my competence in twelve specific areas of college student affairs practice. Each competency area will be supported by artifacts, which are examples of work that have helped me grow in these areas. Also included in this website, you will find my resume, my philosophy of student affairs that guides my practice on a daily basis, and a culmination paper that serves as a reflection of my educational experience and commitment to becoming a life-long learner. A little about my capstone design... As you might have already noticed, the theme for my portfolio is a quilt. I chose this theme because it symbolizes many things that are important to me and that shape me as a person and professional. I see quilts as pieces of self-expression, diversity, womanhood, heritage, family, social justice, love, comfort, and commitment. While I do not quilt or even own any quilts, a mentor, Dr. Paula M. Sheridan, first introduced the significance of the quilt to me when I was her student at Whittier College. Honestly, I do not remember exactly what she said about them. All I remember are the emotions she conveyed when she told the story and the significance it had in her life and work as an educator. Therefore, when I began thinking about the design for my portfolio, it felt so natural to do something related to quilts. My portfolio in a way is a quilt that allows me to place many pieces together to tell a story and feel proud of my journey. Thank you for visiting my capstone portfolio and sharing this moment with me. I hope you enjoy it! Please feel free to sign my guestbook. I would love to hear from you. Sincerely, Cecy |
